Born in Phoenix AZ, Ray enrolled in Officer Training School in Pensacola, Florida followed by Flight Navigator training in Corpus Christi, TX. He served as a Tactical Flight Navigator for the US Navy in Guam between 1966-1969 chasing typhoons, completing his tour of service as a Lieutenant at Treasure Island, in San Francisco Bay.
He worked briefly as a part of a surveyor team member for U S Forest Service in Plumas National Forest, Quincy, then enrolled in CSU Chico with a focus on special education teaching.
Ray has been a teacher since 1970, until he retired in 2016 to focus on private tutoring and transition consulting. In his free time, Ray loves to travel the world, SCUBA dive and is an underwater photographer.
