Private, Community-Based, Transition Specialist

Families with Special-Needs Individuals

As a trained special-education professional with over 25 years of experience, I act as consultant to and advocate for the families of special-needs individuals. I help to navigate the education system, transition programs, and the individual challenges of post-transition life.

Adult Special-Needs Students Ages 18-22

For adult special-needs students currently enrolled in transition programs, I consult with families to develop transition priorities and help perfect their individual education program. I also provide one-on-one private tutoring and exercises to help accelerate and focus the transition process.

Post-Transition Adults, Ages 22+

I work with post-transition special-needs individuals to develop custom education and development plans, along with one-on-one tutoring, to learn and practice the specific skills necessary to achieve goals and a fulfilling, independent life.

How it Works

Initial Consultation

My initial consultations are always provided at no charge. During this consultation, I meet the student and their family, discuss current concerns and challenges and future goals. I’ll make a preliminary assessment of the student’s skill level and ability.

Interview and Goal Discovery

Next I conduct an in-depth interview and analysis with both the student and the family. In this interview:

  • Determine individual needs
  • Establish goals
  • Make a plan

Next Steps

  • One-on-one time specifically tailored for each individual
  • Liaise with community to engender support
  • Weekly progress reports to determine completion of goals

How Much Does it Cost?

  • First consultation: Always Free
  • In-Depth Interview and Analysis: $250.00 flat fee
  • One-on-one time determined on a case-by-case basis
